Born and raised in Pawtucket, R.I. I graduated in law enforcement at RWU and became a Special Agent with the Secret Service and U.S. Customs, which led me to expand my horizons, meet a host of fascinating people and travel much. After 29 years of service I was able to return to express and create my art. In Ireland at the Burren College of Art in County Clare, I was finally able to connect the Irish landscape with abstract painting. What began in realism moved into a mysterious deep well of memory. The spatial stillness of the Burren allowed me to reflect and provided me the opportunity to renew my creativity. I explore, experiment, and reach beyond memory into aboriginal emotional energy. My painting taps into the intellect through emotion and dream imagery.
Studying at the Atlanta College of Art allowed me a freedom to delve into printmaking, which set challenges with new techniques.
Recently I returned to Cork, Ireland for a residency at the Cork Printmakers. I came away with very specific concepts in mind involving two separate and distinct processes using deep etching and simultaneous color printing which, I will now pursue in my studio practice.
